Courtney Shanade Salter, born April 26, 1991 also known professionally as Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the debut female signing with J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. Dreamville Records released her debut album titled Pho in the month of October of 2016 when she began to get recognition. Shea Butter Baby, her debut studio album was released 7 May 2019. Ari Lennox released her songs online in 2012 when she released Five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. Ari Lennox continued uploading her music on the internet, as well as her own single Bound. On the 9th November she dropped two additional singles called 40 Shades of Choke (and Grampa). Then on the 13th of November two singles, titled The No One and pedigree. Shea Butter Baby is a song that she performed with Cole on the soundtrack to Creed II on the 16th of November. The track was released as a single on its own in February 2019, to coincide with the release of her debut album. The track was made available with a video uploaded to YouTube 20 February 2019 was watched more than three million times over the first 7 days. In December 2018 the singer was a part of The From East Atlanta With Love Tour featuring 6LACK.
